About Us

Jeff Knapp, the proprietor of River Hawk Forge, acquired his values for hard work, determination, and grit, along with his natural-born artistry skills, from a long line of family artisans. His mother is a published and professional quilter. His father is a skilled craftsman and can build and fix anything.  Jeff is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, archery, and gardening.

Jeff is a teacher, as is his wife, Rachel, and together they have three children and two Newfoundland dogs.  River Hawk Forge started as a hobby for Jeff and has blossomed into a family-run business that produces high-quality handmade metalware such as knives, hooks, and other custom-made home goods.

The name River Hawk pays homage to the ospreys that can be seen on hot summer days at the family’s summer home on the St. Lawrence River.  Jeff grew up in the “river rat” lifestyle that would shape his creative mind. His metal artwork takes on a river feel to it.  Walking in the woods, fishing in the swamps, and swimming off the rocks have inspired everything from oak leaf finials to fish and lily-pad-inspired hooks.  River Hawk Forge will help you hang a little piece of The River in your home.

All of his forgings happen in the barn that his father helped him build, adorned with a large colorful barn quilt that his mother designed and painted, in Deansboro, NY. Reach out today for more information and ordering details.
